In 2021 and 2022, we conducted a thematic examination into payment institutions offering payment services to merchants in the gambling and gaming sector. The rationale for the examination is the increased inherent integrity risks in this sector. For example, there are opportunities for money laundering through Gambling and Gaming due to, among other things: the high amounts associated with Gambling, the many transactions that are carried out for Gaming, the use of anonymous payment methods, and the execution of pay-ins and pay- outs.

The results of the thematic study have led to this Good Practice, which provides guidance on how these integrity risks can be managed by payment institutions.
For more information about the status of a Good Practice we refer to the Explanatory guide on the DNB website.
